Unfortunately, the internet is loaded with pornographic videos, many of which have reluctant, vulnerable participants that have been enticed with little remuneration, drugs and threats and have been completely exploited by the film producers.

A lot of videos are made by willing participants too, but they may decide that they want to forget that part of their life and they have other interests and pursuits and their career and/or relationships will be damaged if the videos remained online.

Just recently, Cohen Davis solicitors secured damages in excess of £20,000 for a client who had participated in a pornographic video five years earlier that he had immediately regretted but the film producer exploited him.

Cohen Davis, who acted on a no win no fee basis, took the case on when the man told Yair Cohen that at the time, he was at a very low point in his life; homeless and penniless and he had agreed to do the video whilst under the influence of drugs.

He was paid just £150 for the entire recording, which turned into an extremely intrusive and humiliating experience for him. He changed his mind after the recording and begged the film producer to delete it but the film producer refused to and subsequently, exploited him and went on to sell the highly degrading video on a lucrative gay porn website for over a period of 5 years.

Links and extracts were also published on other pornographic websites, together with highly derogatory descriptions of our client. It became a bestseller due to its humiliating nature.

It proved a real challenge for our online detectives to trace the film producer because he had done all he could to conceal his identity.

With diligence, as with so many other cases, we found the film producer and it only took a brief period of negotiations before Cohen Davis were able to secure complete removal of all the videos and every snippet and link that featured our client and his name, from the internet. Cohen Davis also secured compensation for our client and legal costs.

At times it could seem nearly impossible to secure removal of pornographic videos from the internet, particularly if they had been produced some time ago but that wasn’t a deterrent for Cohen Davis. We are passionate about doing our absolute best for our clients and we wanted to give this man back his life and his freedom.

In addition to the damages, Cohen Davis also secured the transfer of the copyright in the videos to the client, together with a binding contract with the film producer, which enforced the prohibition of any future unauthorised online publications of the pornographic video.
